Power of attorney

Coping with your own money or property can become a problem: illness or accident could mean you need to rely on other people.

Planning ahead, you might want to create a lasting Power of Attorney. Without such a document, a Deputy may need to be appointed for you by the Court of Protection.

True story

Mr W created a Power of Attorney many years ago appointing his son to manage his affairs. Sadly Mr W later became ill, but his son was able to take immediate steps to implement the Power of Attorney for his father’s benefit. The son received advice on his duties and role as attorney.
